Light Adjustable Lens

The Light Adjustable Lens is a new technology that allows adjustments of your intraocular lens after the time of cataract surgery. Where all other lenses are fixed and decided on prior to your surgery, the light adjustable lens can be adjusted after your eye has healed. This results in increased accuracy in minimizing your glasses prescription, as it allows your surgeon to account for multiple factors, such as how your eye heals. Your surgeon is then able to change the shape of the intraocular lens by applying light via the RxSight Light Delivery Device (LDD). With the adjustability of the lens, you have an opportunity to test drive a type of blended vision that works well for many patients. The range of vision is similar to that of an extended depth of focus lens, but not as wide as a multifocal lens. With blended vision, your surgeon can optimize a blended vision by adjusting your dominant eye for distance and intermediate vision and the non-dominant eye for intermediate and near. You can customize the blended vision to allow for better near or better distance vision, depending on what you like. After cataract surgery, your surgeon is able to apply up to 3 separate adjustments, after which we can lock in your ideal, customized vision.
