Emergency Eye Care
Flashes and Floaters
There are many things that could constitute an eye emergency. Flashes of lights, lots of new floaters or a curtain or shadow in your vision could all be concerning symptoms. When a patient has this, we worry about a retinal tear or detachment. In this setting, time is crucial and it is important to come in to see an eye doctor right away.
Scratch in the Eye
When the clear cap on the front part of your eye, or the cornea, gets scratched it can be extremely painful. Sometimes it can become infected. That’s why it is important to come in and have your eye doctor look for signs of infection, and treat the scratch accordingly.
Foreign Body in the Eye
Sometimes small particles of metal or wood can get stuck in the eye. This is a common issue with woodworkers or metal-workers. Eye safety is of the utmost importance and it is important to protect your eyes while working with machinery by wearing safety goggles. If you do get something in your eye, it is important that you come in right away to have it removed by your eye doctor.
